I can't wait to get home from work and do a nice long bike workout tonight at the gym. I brought my gym clothes to work this week because last week I had to rush around to make it before they close at 9, that's no fun. So have you guys ever heard of a bike trainer before? It is this really cool thing that you can put your real bike into and then ride it in your living room, almost like a treadmill. "They" (the TRI experts I've spoken with) say that this is a great investment if you are not used to biking, because it gives you practice on the bike you will be using for your Triathlon, makes sense ("they" are always right). So my latest adventure this week has been looking on craigslist for a cheap one, because they typically run from 150-200 bucks. Yuck. I am excited about this, because if I can get one A) I won't have to rush to the gym on fridays to get my 90 minutes in, and B) I can buy a nice cushion seat for my bike, because let's be honest the bike gym seat is not the frindliest on the bottom!

Okay done being sciency for a few. Jumping ahead to the weekend. On Saturday Brad and I are heading off to another early mornng at the pool, and then on Sunday its back to the running group for a nice easy 11 miles (who says that? lol). My friend Rick who heads the group, was trying to convice me to do 14, but I'm not sure my hip is quite up to that and I don't want to overdue it. Crazy running people don't understand when semi-newbies can't run an extra three miles...See conversation below.
Rick: "So what can we do to make you able to do the 14 miles with the group and still make it to church" (Brad and I go to the late service at church just so I can go to running group in the morning, and I'm usually rushing around to get there, and my hair is sweaty, which is always charming at church....:/)
Me: "It's not really about getting to church on time, it's the fact that I don't want to overdue it and become crippled before I even run my first marathon, or do my first TRI."
Rick: "It's only three more miles."
Me: "Only? I could barely make the 11 this week."
Rick: (No answer, just looks like he can't fathom that a normal human being thinks running 14 miles after doing a full week of training, not to mention not having run double digits in about 3 weeks may in fact be difficult.)
Me: OKAY see ya next week. (As I am sprinting to my car, trying to get away from him as soon as possible so as not to be conviced to actually partake in the 14 miles.) *peel out of zoo parking lot.
So the weekend should be fun. I also have a B-day party for my neice Kaitlyn on Sunday, where we will be ice skating. Let's see if I can convince my body to move after the 11 miles that morning.
Recipe Time!

You can't exercise too strenuously though...
ReplyDeleteThe recipe looks delist as usual:)
That bike trainer could also be nice if you're super clumsy and sometimes crash your bike looking at passing dogs or babies or at people's decorating...for instance. Love your blog!
