Where was I? OH! So Friday I made it to the gym for a nice long 85 minute bike, which I sweat profusely through (the gym was quite warm.) Once you get going on the bike, if you are feeling good it really can be a great workout. I know a lot of people who think biking on a stationary is boring, but again I read while I bike which seems to pass the time for me. Anyway, all in all Friday ended up being a good day. I went bowling that night with my friend, havn't been Rockin' bowling since I was in high school, although it was a blast it ended up being a late night for Brad and I who are usually in bed by 9:30p. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was dreading my Saturday morning swim...........which didn't happen because my body said sleep, so I did. Although all day Saturday I felt a little guilty, I knew that I needed a day off, where I didn't work but I just relaxed and when Sunday rolled around I sure was grateful for my off day on Saturday.
Sunday: I was so happy to meet with my group on Sunday morning. A blistery day it was! It is so much easier to be motivated when you are running with a group of 10 people who are going through the same grueling thing you are, and doing minimal complaining. We started a new route, as our old trail run is closed for the rest of the season due to snow and ice. It was a nice change, but it's always hard doing 11 miles for the first time on a new route because you don't know any landmarks or halfway points, which can sometimes be a mental block. We all ended up finishing alive and not frozen though, so that is the good news! I decided during mile 6 when my hips were so frozen I could hear them creaking, that some fleece lined running leggings were in order. A trip to Marshalls is a must for me this week to prepare for up coming battle weekend!
Fun sidenote, my mom made me an awesome crocheted knight hat for christmas this year, so when I am running in the cold and wind I can put the mask down and be shielded from the wind. Everyone in the group thought this was great, and at one point when I was leading the pack I shouted "WHO ARE WE" and after some practice, they all shouted "SPARTA" haha. good times!
Monday Monday
This morning, after sleeping in (again) I headed off to the gym for some more miles on the bike. Although today is technically a running day I decided to give my hips the day off and run Tuesday and Thursday instead, especially because I am going to have to start upping my mileage for the OH YEAH Bayshore Marathon which is in the end of May, that I have failed to mention to you all that I am also training for. This will be my first marathon ever, and I am quite exicited, poor Bradley has been dragged into doing the thing with me so the upcoming months should be interesting fo sho. Anyway, so I biked today to give the old creaky hip some recovery time before some long miles tomorrow. After biking 45 minutes and getting a little over 10 miles in, I was off to the pool for my long swim. Hooray for my new watch that is amazing, and times my laps for me. I had to do 2000 meters today! A new record. Techically the workout called for 4x500 so I took about a 2 minute break in between each set but I didn't stop at all otherwise, which in itself was a feat! No cap issues today either, so that made me a happy girl!
Love you all! Thanks for the continued support. Shoutout to my mom, who leaves a comment almost every blog (love you), and to Dado, who I know reads every day but leaves the comments to mother. And to my new reader, my Aunt Erin <3.
Grilled Chicken with whole wheat pasta.
I made Chicken and Pasta for Brad and I this weekend. Instead of using sauce, I put 1/2 cup of plain greek yogurt, one can of crushed toms, and lots of fresh crushed garlic. It turned out delcious but Brad thought it needed some salt, so added some to his. I also grilled the chicken on this awesome thing we got for out wedding, it is a long pan/skillet that goes on top of your two stove burners, one side is a grill and the other side is a skillet. I was amazed how good the chicken turned out! I tasted like I had grilled it on our grill outside! I will be using this in the near and frequent future!
p.s. did you know if you click on the picture it will blow it up for you? I learned this today.
Kara, xo
