Sunday was a rough one for me. I woke up early so I could run on my own (a LOOOOONG 12 miler, that took exactly 2 hours) because last week I missed church running with the group. I ran all the way down Baldwin, which is a mainish road in Jenison that has sidewalks all the way down....Do you know what I learned? I ran down on the left side of the street, where there are a lot of subdividivisons/houses etc. The sidewalk was not user friendly. On the way back I ran on the right side, where the sidewalks are perfectly plowed because it is mainly businesses on that side of the road. GRRR. If only I knew that phenomenon the first 6 miles, when my stride was limited to about 2 inches so I didn't fall and break my butt. Live and Learn I guess....which is my new motto for Triathlon training.
Monday brought about a new week! And the longest swim I've done to date without taking a break. I am a little bit proud of this one guys! I swam 1500 meters without a break. I have a new system. The pool is 25 meters long, so I have been counting my touches on the far end of the pool, to give me something to look forward to and make it easier to count my laps. Well, on Monday I had to touch that wall..brace yourself.....THIRTY times. But I did it!!! I was so excited, I really feel like my endurance is finally getting there for my swimming, which makes me so happy. Obviously I have a really long way to go, but not drowing when I am swimming a mile on the lake is quite important to me, and my Husband and family as well. So for that thirty touches with no break, is a small victory!
